CAN YOU USE BREAD FLOUR FOR BISCUITS?

You can use bread flour for biscuits if you have it and enjoy using it. Your biscuits may even benefit from extra flakiness, but make no mistake, this recipe as written with all-purpose flour will still result in very flaky biscuits.

WHAT DOES BUTTERMILK DO FOR BISCUITS?

We can thank buttermilk for lending its acidity and fat content to homemade biscuits. The acidity works with the baking powder and baking soda to help give the biscuits lift, which results in a tall and fluffy biscuit. Buttermilk is also slightly tangy, which is a signature taste in buttermilk biscuits.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SOUTHERN STYLE AND BUTTERMILK BISCUITS?

While there isn't much difference in ingredients in Southern style vs buttermilk biscuits, there is some difference in the preparation and presentation.
