Ingredients

  • 1 frozen banana peeled, sliced, then frozen*
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened almond milk any milk is fine**
  • 2 Tablespoons natural peanut butter creamy or crunchy
  • 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon agave nectar***
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract like homemade
  • Assorted toppings: chopped nuts sunflower seeds, chia seeds, sliced banana, chopped apple, raisins, fresh berries, oats, ground flax, shredded coconut, chocolate chips, Almond Joy granola

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients except toppings in a blender (this is the one we have and love). Blend until smooth.
  • Pour blended smoothie into a bowl and garnish with desired toppings. Smoothie bowl is best served immediately, but leftovers can be kept covered in the refrigerator up to 8 hours.

Notes

*Using a frozen banana brings a thick texture to this smoothie bowl. If you don't have any pre-frozen bananas, use a fresh one and add 2-3 ice cubes to your blender.
**If using sweetened milk/non-dairy milk, you may want to omit sweetener completely.
***You may also use honey or pure maple syrup.
