I am more of a cookie gal then a cake gal, when it comes to my confidence in the kitchen. However, this recipe was oh-so easy to put together and turned out beautifully! I was charged with making the cake for my mom’s retirement party, so it had to be good and it had to please the crowd. I made this cake as a sheet cake and used FAF’s chocolate buttercream recipe (halved it, since I was not including layers in this cake) and it was a BIG win!

This cake is delicious and is the perfect antidote for the winter blues! I really liked the texture of the crumb in the sponge cake and the chocolate fudge frosting is out of this world
