FANTASTIC recipe, a definite keeper!! I’ll admit, I decided to make this the other night because I was curious and a little skeptical (would the ice cream be icy or grainy because it wasn’t a cooked custard base?) and I’ve never seen pralines made this way (all the ingredients in the pot at once), but everything came together super quickly (huge bonus to not have to chill a hot custard base) and was absolutely *delicious!

I’ll share a tip I learned on another site: when you’re DONE churning and ready to put the ice cream in the freezer to finish firming up, add 1 tablespoon of the liquor of your choice, give it a quick stir to incorporate, and your ice cream will stay scoop-able no matter how hard it freezes. I keep a tiny bottle of whipped cream-flavored vodka in the pantry for baking, and it worked perfectly with your recipe! :)

Hi, Darlene-- I'm not sure what a "traditional electric ice cream freezer" is. How many quarts is it?

Would love to try this as this combo is my favorite ice cream flavor. However, we have a traditional electric ice cream freezer, so I’m wondering if Lynn or anyone else has used that method and knows if I would need to double or possibly triple this recipe to fill the canister.

I’m so happy I stumbled upon this delightful little ice cream adventure (love your other yummy recipes). My husband has been searching for this kind of ice cream and we never find one that’s any good, if we find it at all! This recipe was so good! Super fun to put together and the kids are currently fighting over another scoop!
