The flavor was great and super nostalgic. The texture somehow turned out dense and moist instead of “soft and fluffy”. So was a bit of a surprise, but overall still tasted good.

In reply to Kaitlin. Interesting! I'm really not sure what to tell you! I've definitely had this happen before with desserts, but I'd obviously not publish a recipe on my site that didn't work as intended. In all of my testing, that never happened with this cake.

In reply to Kaitlin. I used Betty Crocker jimmies. The stick kind. The bottom came out nice and colorful but looks like the colors bled.

All my sprinkles migrated to the edges while baking! What did I do wrong? Smells great and looks good otherwise but yeah, it looks like a yellow cake with a rainbow ring around the outside of it.

I don’t usually comment on recipes, but I made this for my daughter’s birthday and it was perfect! I’ve tried a lot of cake recipes and this one hit all of the marks — moist, delicious, and a denser crumb. I’ve bookmarked this recipe and will be back for more 🙂 Thank you!
