This is *not* royal icing. This melts at the drop of a hat if you have any humidity in your area/climate and the taste of confectioners sugar, that weird taste it has, is too pungent. To override that weird taste I had to use triple the amount of vanilla extract and add cinnamon to make it palatable. It is also not puffy like royal icing. This stuff reminds me of that weak stuff that you see on oatmeal cookies in the packages at the store. This recipe needs help.

Ok so I've been watching so many shirts on YouTube and some of those cookies look so amazing! I know mine will not look like that ,,, probably ever but now I've read through all of your recipe, tips and well quite a bit I didn't know I'm going to give it a go,,,it's lovely to see advice from other bakers (which you mentioned) it's one of the most welcoming,warm sites I've come across and makes you feel like "you're sort of part of it" for trying ! And no judgement etc thankyou and for giving me a little nudge in the right direction,hats off to you too,and both my daughters will enjoy this to the max ,i just hope when I stick another colour on top it doesn't do what I think it might,I'm not the lightest handed of ! much appreciated x

I used this royal icing recipe for the first time this year, no fuss, easy to make i had all the ingredients in my pantry. It tastes great, is easy to work with and looked so pretty! I will be using it in the future.

H, Chanti– step #3 in the instructions says “add water by drop if you think it’s too thick. If it becomes too thin, add more powdered sugar by the teaspoon.”
